Scotland’s best ever videogames show is now on iTunes. Bastards.
You know, we here at the Thumbcast like to think of ourself as the best sweary daft cult media podcast to come out of Glasgow. Hell, we’re even (still) in the running for a European Podcast Award for our antics.
But even we’re happy to move over and let TEAM! have their crown back. Because Consolevania – the fantastic mid-00′s video games series which showed everyone how it’s fuckin’ done – has suddenly appeared on iTunes.
If you’ve not seen or heard of it before… well, firstly, what the hell is wrong with you, and secondly go check it out immediately. The series – done by Thumbcast guest Robert Florence and partner in crime Ryan Macleod – begat a legit BBC series (the brilliant videoGaiden) and a host of imitators, but has never been bettered.
Watching it back now is like revisiting Brass Eye or the Day Today, and realising just how many folk have been ripping off Chris Morris all these years. Consistently funny and on the money, it makes you long for a decent videogames show on telly again.
Now the back catalogue’s all up on iTunes – and for free – where it’s instantly topping the charts, there’s really no excuse for folk not to have seen it. And we’d like to pay tribute with our favourite skit from it…
