It’s no secret the Thumbcast are fans of NBC’s brilliant sitcom Community – a show which loves and skewers pop culture in equal measures.
It’s done everything from claymation episodes to 28 Days Later – indeed, the show has a nicely healthy obsession with the undead – and now poor old Doctor Who is in its sights.
And, of course, because the internet is full of heid the ba’s (more on that later), they can’t just let a throwaway gag that last five seconds on a sitcom lie, can they?
A whole meme has sprung up around Inspector Spacetime, the phone-box adventuring Brit with a plucky sidekick, in the space of five days. Such as this TV Tropes page, which sets out the show’s entire history, or this Tumblr, or even a Facebook fan page with more fans than we have. Bastard.
Speaks volumes about the internet that there’s far more love for a made-up TV show that’s only seen for five seconds on a laptop than there is for poor Abed’s original loves of The Cape and Cougartown, eh?
