New Walking Dead teaser: Egg's really not dealing with that break-up with Milly...

Poor old Edgar Cooke.  He's really let himself go since Miles' wedding, after finding out his long-time girlfriend had been shagging her boss, and then seeing her punch out colleague Rachel after the conniving blonde let slip Milly's indiscretion.

Kidding, of course.  It's the new promo for The Walking Dead, which debuts Stateside on Halloween.  We'll be doing a review in November's Thumbcast.  But as we've already hinted on the blog - can't bloody wait.

Episode 14: The Curse of River City

On this month's show we consider the sexual politics of Scott Pilgrim, whether Sandman will work as a TV show, what it takes to kill James Nesbitt, what happens when you cut Doctor Who in half, and whether Garth Ennis could write Oor Wullie.

Plus - when newspaper subs go racist, more on Mark Millar... and we also go all classical for The Vault.

Don't forget Thumbcast Extra is out every Sunday via the podcast feed or here on the site.  If you want to get in touch with the show, leave a comment below, send us a tweet or email us at podcast@thethumbcast.com.

Cut to Gerry Anderson, scratching his head and saying 'I don't remember this...'

Terrahawks. The Japanese opening titles. They go on FOREVER. And feature lots of singing and stock anime sequences... on top of the regular Terrahawks setup.

Presumably nobody told Gerry...

Geordie Star Wars: 'Sunderland! You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany...'

What happens when a bunch of Newcastle students with a knowledge of modern cinema, some film editing gear and a ragmag sensibility get their hands on the (proper) Star Wars trilogy?

Geordie Star Wars, that's what:

Yes, it's an oldie but a goodie.  I remember catching this first time round years ago, and time hasn't really dented it's twisted, silly, studenty North East sensibilities and student favourite references (including audio from Withnail & I for the cantina sequence).

Best enjoyed with a couple of pints in you, though...

Thumbcast Extra: Who's Ginger Santa?

Craig and Iain put on their professional hats (for once) to review the debut issue of Mark Millar's new comic-cum-magazine CLiNT, discuss why he'll never write the Great Glasgow Graphics Novel... and to consider the magazine's long term chances of survival.

The Thumbcast's Posterous

The Thumbcast is a grumpy, shambolic, sometimes legally dubious and occasionally inaudible monthly ramble through the good, the bad and the downright ugly bits of pop culture, hosted by Iain Hepburn and Craig McGill.
