Conventional behaviour: A guide to acceptable conduct for newbies

Matt Smith & Karen Gillan Promoting "Dr. Who" In London

Yeah baby! Kerching!

You might not have heard, but the BBC Money for Old Rope Department has announced the first official Doctor Who convention of the modern era.

The  two day convention – which, in line with the BBC policy on reruns, is actually a one-day convention repeated 24-hours later – will give fans the chance to descend on Cardiff’s beautiful Millennium Centre for a chance to meet Steven Moffat and Matt Smith for just shy of a ton.

And for just another £20-odd each, you could get a photo opportunity with either of the great men himself.  Or an autograph from either of our noble heroes.

You’ll also be able to hear from directors, producers and other various members of the production team on what it’s like to work on Doctor Who.  Presumably you don’t have to pay extra for them, though.

Now, given Doctor Who has a brand new audience who are shiny and fresh after coming to the show in 2005, we here at the Thumbcast feel it’s only appropriate to put a comforting arm around their shoulder and offer them some friendly advice on what to do while they’re at the convention.

So, may we present the Official Thumbcast Official Doctor Who Convention Behaviour Guide, lovingly compiled by convention veterans, which hopefully will offer a useful starting point for the baby Who fans making their way to Cardiff for the first time next Spring.
